Data

Premier League match event data

Every Premier League goal and substitution since 2001-02, cards from 2011-12, and from 2012-13 every shot, foul, corner and offside. REST or MCP.

StrikerAPI serves the events of every Premier League match ESPN lists: each goal with its scorer, assister, minute, and whether it was a penalty or an own goal; every card and substitution; and VAR decisions where the source records them. From 2012-13 the record is shot by shot, with fouls, corners and offsides as well.

get_events returns a match's events in order, filtered to goals, shots, cards, substitutions, set pieces or fouls if you like. Every match's goals are checked against its final score. The table below is read from the database.

Questions

Do the goals add up to the score?

They are checked: the goals recorded for each side are compared with the final score of every match. The design notes give the share that match exactly, per season.

Are own goals and penalties marked?

Yes: each goal carries own_goal and penalty flags, and penalty shootout kicks are kept apart from the match (shootout: true).

What does an older match have?

Before the shot-by-shot era a match has its goals, cards and substitutions, with the minute and the players involved, but no shots, fouls or corners.

What it will not do

  • No passes, carries, duels or pressures.
  • Before 2012-13, goals, cards (from 2011-12) and substitutions only.
